The first thing everyone thinks of when the words “Life Simulation Games” come to mind is the Sims. Nowadays, however, we have gone away so far from it that any simulation game can be considered a life sim with the right mechanics. But wait… if all games incorporate fishing as a feature, does that instantly make them a life sim? Is Nier Automata a life sim too? These are the questions that’ll keep us up at night!

Anyways, here’s our list of upcoming life simulation games 2022 and beyond!

List of Upcoming Life Simulation Games 2022 and Beyond

Potion Permit

Release Date: September 22, 2022
Genre: Life Sim, Adventure
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC

A far-off town is in desperate need of help but an incident involving a chemist has made much of the surrounding area unliveable. It is up to you to use your medical knowledge to cure what ails the townspeople and gain their trust. Start by diagnosing their symptoms, then gather all the ingredients needed to make the right concoction in order to treat patients.

If that’s not enough to convince you, Potion Permit allows you to go fishing for whatever reason and has multiple endings for you to unlock. It’s a little more objective-based than the average life sim but at least it’s not asking for years of your life.

Little Witch in the Woods

Release Date: TBA (Out now in Early Access)
Genre: RPG, Adventure
Platform: Xbox One, PC

Ellie may have a little trouble when it comes to listening to people (especially with adults) and she always insists on having things done her way… but she’s a good kid that always puts others’ trouble ahead first of her own worries… which is the reason why she gets into trouble so often. It’s not that’s her problem, she just makes a point to solve other people’s problems.

Well, that’s what it’s like playing the game in Early Access. So far, it’s been rather even though the game’s story is only about 1/3 the planned length the full version is going to have. This game’s still got plenty to work with until the game exits Early Access next year but as life sims go, the everyday tasks are quite enjoyable.

The Garden Path

Genre: Life Sim, Exploration
Platform: Nintendo Switch, PC

Every garden needs a gardener… just ask good old Samwise about the exciting life a gardener lives. The Garden Path is a slice-of-life sim about the joy of gardening and the small pleasures that follow. Whether you’re fishing, growing, trading, or just hanging with new friends, a wonderful and wistful adventure awaits when wandering The Garden Path. The 2D art looks really impressive too.

We’re not sure about the game’s time following your computer’s internal time but we’re willing to give it a shot.

Bear and Breakfast

Release Date: July 28, 2022
Genre: Life Sim, RPG
Platform: Nintendo Switch, PC

A bear managing a bed and breakfast isn’t the strangest thing about this game. As it turns out, there’s a mystery here, and only by expanding the business will the secrets be uncovered. We don’t know about all that, it’s just really fun fumbling around until the place looks perfect. When we are done making sure everything is right will sit back and enjoy some fishing and a picnic basket. At least, that’s what we think the perfect day in the life of a BnB “manager” is like.

The Brew Barons

Tentative Release Date: Q3 or Q4 2022
Genre: Open World, RPG, Simulation
Platform: PC

One of the more curious games on our list, The Brew Barons is an Open World Business Sim that’s all about that liquid gold. In this game, the player takes control of a pair of pilots as they gather, manufacture, and sell a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. Talk up with local businesses to get access to more recipes, keep an eye out for sunken wrecks for treasure, and another eye glued to the horizon for any pirates that be interested in taking your goods. Don’t forget to upgrade and customize your plane to suit your playstyle, whether that be a type for dogfighting or one suited to losing a tail.

Slime Rancher 2

Tentative Release Date: Fall 2022
Genre: Adventure, Simulation
Platform: Xbox Series X|S, PC

When the original Slime Rancher came out, it was just about gathering all kinds of slime and feeding them food… so that you can sell their poop. Well, that hasn’t changed much but this second game looks to build upon what made the first game so special. At the very least, the slimes look better than ever and the game’s got more to it than just being an everyday slime rancher. As life sims go, you will not miss out on this very chill game/series.

Roots of Pacha

Tentative Release Date: 2022
Genre: PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC
Platform: Farming Sim, Life Sim, Building

Although a farming sim at heart, Roots of Pacha covers all the bases for a life sim. In this game, we go back, way back to the roots of humanity and it is our job to see humanity carve itself a place in pre-history. Build your village from the ground up and watch over your people as they go through the stages of life. Dig deeper underground and discover a different side of your humanity. And finally, advance humanity to a point where it can fully sustain itself with farming and the domestication of livestock. Don’t forget to invent a musical movement in your spare time! There’s just so much to do in the cradle of humanity.

Ekoh Beach

Genre: Life Sim, RPG
Platform: PC

Alright! We’re in the top three and we’re starting things off with Ekoh Beach! In this life sim, we take all the knowledge we have and all the modern tools at our disposal to make the island paradise of our dreams. It’ll take every piece of lumber and stone you can find but eventually, this random island in the ocean can become a modern luxury resort.

Collect skill cards, befriend others on the island, and defend your claim from the scrap bots that roam the place. There’s a little bit of everything going on here. Even an evil robot overlord to defeat???

Disney Dream Valley

Early Access Release Date: September 06, 2022
Genre: Adventure, Life Sim
Platform: PC

Even without this “Forgetting” phenomenon that’s sweeping Disney Dream Valley, we know we’d like to spend as much as possible with the Disney and Pixar friends we’ve adored for so many years. Of course, we’ll do everything we can to help them, if only to see them happy again in their world. (And maybe get a favor from dear old Uncle Scrooge.)

And like the voice-over said, “In this world, you can be whoever you want to be.” Why not spend the time with your Disney friends?

Cook Serve Forever

Tentative Release Date: Early 2023
Genre: Life Sim, Time Management
Platform: PC

For our number 1 game, we have chosen a humble cooking game from the developers who brought us the phenomenal Cook, Serve, Delicious trilogy of games. Cook Serve Forever is the next step for the series in every way possible. It is bigger, more ambitious, and yummier than any other game in the series yet!
