We may have found The Immortal’s younger sibling. The Rapacious Appetite is a 750 RPM Stasis Aggressive Frame submachine gun. In the very short time after its introduction into Destiny 2, it has been compared to The Immortal SMG. And while it doesn’t have Rangefinder like Immortal does, it may prove to be a long-term investment should the change to damage falloff severely affect Rangefinder.
Currently, the field for best SMG for Season of the Deep is very crowded. The Rapacious Appetite and the Bug-Out Bag are in contention. With the No Survivors from the Dungeon is waiting in the wings.
How to get the Rapacious Appetite in Destiny 2?
To get weapons from the Deep weapon set, like the Rapacious Appetite, Guardians have to take part in the seasonal activities: Salvage and Deep Dives. Getting five red border weapons and Deepsight activating them will unlock the crafting pattern for the weapon. Activity Keys improve the chances of acquiring red borders from the rewards chest at the end of an activity.
Best Rapacious Appetite PvP God Rolls
- 1st Column: Full Bore
- 2nd Column: Ricochet Rounds
- Range Masterwork
- Targeting Adjuster Mod
- Well-Rounded + Target Lock (This is the roll you want if want to take full advantage of the weapon’s Origin Trait – Unsated Hunger. Basically, if you enter an engagement by opening with all your abilities, you’ll get the full benefit of Well-Rounded plus Unsated Hunger. Target Lock is just too good to pass up.)
- Encore + Target Lock (The snowball roll that’s best used by aggressive players who get quick follow-up kills. While it can do well in 3v3 matches, it does phenomenally in the 6v6 playlist.)
PvP Tips:
The Rapacious Appetite is the next best thing if you don’t want to run the gauntlet that is the Trials of Osiris. It may not be as good as an Adept The Immortal but sometimes being accessible is the better option.
You have Frenzy as an alternative option in the 4th column. But the consistency of Target Lock is what makes it a go-to perk for SMGs at least for the duration of the Season of the Deep.
Best Rapacious Appetite PvE God Rolls
- 1st Column: Smallbore
- 2nd Column: Extended Mag
- Range Masterwork
- Backup Mag Mod
- Fourth Time’s the Charm + Headstone (This is probably going to be the safe bet for PvE rolls for this weapon. Fourth Time’s the Charm activates when you make critical hits and Headstone activates when you get a critical hit kill. It’s a solid option all around.)
- Envious Assassin + Cascade Point (The Envious Assassin and Cascade Point combo have proven to be very effective on Energy Weapons that provide instant impact. On an Aggressive Frame primary SMG, the impact is lessened. Definitely, a “fun” roll if you’re into that sort of thing.)
PvE Tips:
SMGs get a lot of use in PvE content recently. Not only do they do extremely well in Ad dense encounters, but they also pack a punch against Majors and soften up Champions before and after you stun them. If you already have a preferred SMG, the Rapacious Appetite might not be your first option. The only consideration is if you have a Stasis build with ability spam.
One for All and Focused Fury in the 4th Column are solid alternative options depending on your playstyle.
The Invisible Hand perk is an interesting one considering you get benefits when you miss. But realistically, it’s hard to justify when you’re already fighting in close range. Maybe it’ll get a bump in the future. Who knows? But like Zen Moment, you might want to keep an eye out for potential changes.
How Good is the Rapacious Appetite Submachine Gun?
There are a couple of reasons why you should get this gun. For one, the Rapacious Appetite can somewhat compete against The Immortal SMG. It’s a direct counter but you’ll have a fighting chance. And secondly, it is fully craftable. That’s a definite advantage over most other aggressive frame SMGs.
These are the Rapacious Appetite Base Stats before any perks are applied:
- Impact: 22
- Range: 43
- Stability: 6
- Handling: 53
- Reload Speed: 22
- Zoom: 14
- Rounds Per Minute: 750
- Magazine: 27
You have a good range of perks to choose from. Especially when you eventually have the option to craft the weapon with Enhanced perks.
3rd column perks
- Envious Assassin
- Well-Rounded
- Offhand Strike
- Perpetual Motion
- Fourth Time’s the Charm
- Invisible Hand
- Encore
4th column perks
- One For All
- Headstone
- Focused Fury
- Harmony
- Target Lock
- Cascade Point
- Frenzy
And that’s everything we have right now on the Rapatious Appetite God Rolls. If need be, we will update the article later in the season should we find any other interesting rolls that we think should be known by all. Till then, good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.
