Looking from the outside, the number of side missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is staggering. The good news is that the missions are introduced gradually, and if you happen to keep up, you won’t be overwhelmed down the line. In this guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the side missions in the game.
This article is separate from that of the main story missions. The list of main missions warrants a detailed description of everything that transpires there.

Prowler Stashes
Miles’s uncle has been out of the game for some time. But the arrival of the hunters forced him to reveal some secret stashes he’s been hiding all around the city. Better in the hands of Spider-Man than the bad guys.

The Flame
Peter Parker and Yuri (aka Wraith) team up to take down a troubling cult that seems to want to burn the world down. The missions are spread out quite far in between main story missions. But unlike other side missions, successive ‘The Flame’ missions are only accessible by completing the one before it, regardless if they are accessible after that part of the main story.
- Where Have You Been?
- Location: Financial District
- Accessible after the ‘Amends’ main story mission.
- Rewards: 1000 XP, 2x Hero Tokens, 200 Tech Parts

- Rewards: 2000 XP, 6x Hero Tokens, 300 Tech Parts

- It Was Meant For Me
- Location: Little Odessa
- Accessible after the ‘Trouble With Harry’ main story mission.
- Rewards: 3000 XP, 8x Hero Tokens, 400 Tech Parts
The final chapter of this side story. It sees Peter Parker’s Spider-Man trying to stop the Crimson Hour from happening. That involves stopping a bunch of bombs before Brooklyn, and the people who reside within it, go up like a match. Little did Spider-Man and Wraith know, it was the start of something more sinister.
We actually get a preview of what’s to come should the cult step up its attempts to put the world to the flame. In the meantime, the Crimson Hour Silver trophy will have to do.
EMF Experiments

Cultural Museum
Miles Morales only. A break-in at the Harlem Cultural Museum results in several priceless historical instruments being robbed. It is up to Spider-Man to return them to where they belong – with the community.
There are only a couple or so missions tied to this and all take place in the Harlem district. It is a good way to easily farm Hero Tokens and tech parts if you’re in need of them right away.
- Bebop
- Location: Harlem
- Description: Miles recovered Charlie Parker’s saxophone, which is pretty cool. Hope he can track down the rest of the pieces from the museum.
- Hard Bop
- Location: Harlem
- Description: Miles helped recover all the stolen museum pieces, and even got to attend the museum’s grand-opening gala. Can’t wait to visit it myself.
Completing both the Cultural Museum missions will unlock the City Sounds Suit for Miles Morales and the My Community Bronze trophy.
Hunter Blinds
The Hunters have set up several outposts in the city to monitor the movements of their prey. It seems Kraven has purchased entire blocks of the city and installed stealth technology to mask the group’s activities. The Spider-Men have to take down these outposts while searching for larger bases.
- Motorpool Blind
- 3 locations in Harlem
- Accessible after the ‘Bad Buys on the Block’ main story mission.
- Garden Blind
- 3 locations in the Financial District
- Accessible after the ‘The Flames Have Been Lit’ main story mission.
- Aviary Blind
- 2 locations in Downtown Brooklyn
- Accessible after the ‘Flames Have Been Lit’ main story mission.
- Arsenal Blind
- 3 locations within the Upper West Side
- Accessible after the ‘Flames Have Been Lit’ main story mission.
Hunter Bases
Rewards: 1500 XP, 5x Hero Tokens, 350 Tech Parts
Found after gathering clues from Hunter Blinds. These bases are well-defended and will call in reinforcements if communications aren’t cut off. Thankfully, there is an alternative way of taking them down through stealth and sabotage. Taking down their centers of operation will not stop the Hunters from bringing in aid from outside. But at least, you’ll have the whole picture as to why Kraven is so intent on finding an equal to his skill.
Completing all Hunter Bases will unlock the Seek and Destroy Silver trophy.
- Motorpool
- Location: Harlem
- Description: Let’s see the Hunters try to work on their vehicles now.
The twist with this Hunter base is that the main areas are guarded by 3 vehicle turrets. It might be in your best interest to disable all of them before going after the guards.
- Garden
- Location: Financial District
- Description: Guess the Hunters will have to grow their poisons somewhere else.
This Hunter base is located inside the basement of an abandoned skyscraper. You can sabotage the water distribution system to destroy this batch of toxic plants while knocking out some of the guards in the process. Be sure to take out the comms relay too while you’re at it.
- Arsenal
- Location: Upper West Side
- Description: If the Hunters didn’t want their weapons getting messed with, they shouldn’t have left so many in one base!
The main feature of this Hunter Base is a laser defense grid that must be deactivated before going for the comms relay. You can actually bypass the whole thing by going through a vent from the outside of the abandoned tower where the relay is located. Pretty cheeky.
- Aviary
- Location: Williamsburg
- Description: Talon Drones will need somewhere else to roost now.
For this one, your best course of action is to overload the drones’ charging stations while silently dealing with the guards. The hardest part is probably looking for the correct nodes to connect.
Brooklyn Visions
Rewards: 80x Tech Parts, 8 City Tokens, 800 XP
There are 5 available missions that unlock as the story progresses. All the missions take place near or around the Brooklyn Visions school.
- BV Club Fair – In this side mission, Miles’ tour of a school event is interrupted by news of a kidnapped teacher. Unfortunately, this is also the time when he’s supposed to have his college interview. The bad guys need to learn a painful lesson. Hope he gets another shot at his interview.
- Senior Prank – Students from Midtown High stole Lance, the school’s mascot. To get him back, Spider-Man has to solve the mirror puzzle they left behind on building tops til he finds out where they’ve kept him.
- Homecoming – Vijay needs help in asking his special someone to Prom. We need to get everything ready for the big reveal. This involves tapping into the school’s old generator for power and a bunch of little things to set the scene up.
- Lights, Camera, Action – Spider-Man helps Odyssey with her school project that’s meant to be promotional material for the AV club or something like that. This one involves you going around campus, taking photos, and making sure the equipment is functioning properly.
- A Gift – Miles’ classmates pitched in and got him a gift. It’s just a little “thank you” for all the help. Unlocks the Boricua Suit.
Completing ‘A Gift’ will unlock a new costume, the Boricua Suit, and the Brooklyn Pride Bronze trophy.
Unidentified Target
The Hunters are building a database with the names and addresses of seemingly normal people. That alone deserves an investigation. The Spider-Men now have to track down several Talon Drones, catch them, and download their target data before someone falls victim.
This set of missions is accessible after the ‘Wings of My Own’ main story mission. There are 8 missions in total, 7 of which require you to do the same thing: chase down the fowl machine and retrieve targeting data.
Locations:
- Upper West Side
- Upper East Side
- Downtown Queens
- Midtown
- Financial District
- Chinatown
- Williamsburg
The collected data then points you to the location of a penthouse suite in Midtown that also happens to be the place Kraven’s target is hiding out. Completing the side story will unlock the Data Collector Silver trophy.
Symbiote Nests
Symbiotes Nests start appearing on the map after starting the “Trouble With Harry” main story mission. This happens very late in the game after Harry completely gives himself to the Symbiote. There are 10 nests in total to deal with split between two stages.
The nests themselves can only be destroyed with the aid of a modified spider gadget that emits a highly concentrated sonic boom. The Spider-Men have to fend off waves of Symbiotes as the Sonic Burst gadget charges up. It may only take less than a couple of minutes but the attacks are so relentless that you’ll have your hands full the entire time.
First set:
The one in Astoria has two malignant hearts. You’ll need to go between them to protect the emitters from enemies. Lose either one and you’ll have to restart the process. Proactive defense and liberal use of gadgets early on are highly recommended.
The two nests in Harlem are located in alleys behind two-story buildings. The smaller area means there are even more enemies to deal with. But at least there’s only one malignant heart to deal with per location.
There are two nest locations in the Upper East Side. The northern one is located in an alley and features a Brute as the prime threat. The one at the center of the district takes place in an underground road tunnel. There are two hearts to deal with. The problem is that there is a considerable distance between them. Fast reactions are key to this one.
You’ll need to progress the game a little more in order to unlock the rest of the nests.
Second set:
The nest in the Financial District has two hearts. The twist here is that there is a Symbiote Brute in play.
The one in Chinatown starts with you moving a police car to expose the heart of the nest. The most notable parts of this one are the sonic-emitting barrels and the Brute rampaging around. Be mindful not to waste the barrels with a random web grabber.
The one in Williamsburg is your standard encounter but with a higher density than usual. It takes place in a destroyed basketball court and parking lot. Lots of space to work with.
The one in Little Odessa is unique in that it moves between high ground and low ground. You may want to keep an eye out for possible move locations.
If you’ve been keeping up with all the Symbiote Nests, then the one on the Upper West Side is going to be the last one. It takes place at the entrance of an old railway tunnel. Basically, it’s a meat grinder and you’ll have to be at the top of your game to not get overrun by all the melee and ranged symbiotes coming at you from the top of the tunnel.
Completing all the nests will unlock the Exterminator Silver trophy as well as the King in Black Suit for Miles Morales.
And that’s all I’ve got for this Spider-Man 2 side mission guide. Take it one step at a time or all at once. Take the missions at your own pace. Though the prospects of rare resources might be too much to pass up.
