Top 12 July Game Releases 2022 – Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Stray, and more

By all indications, July is yet another chill month. That shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, we are in the Summer of Gaming and with all the new announcements and updates on games in development. Also, from August to all the way to the end of the year, we will be getting a constant stream of big titles.

After July, it’ll be a while until we get another chill month.

So, before we look at that backlog of games in the coming months, let’s look forward to some great experiences coming out in the month of July.

List of the Top July Game Releases 2022

    Clanfolk

Early Access Release Date: July 14, 2022
    Genre: Strategy, Simulation, Strategy
    Platform: PC

Generational games are not easy to pull off but Clanfolk seems to be taking things nice and slow when it releases in Early Access this June. From the way we see it, Clanfolk incorporates a complex web of relationships between people in and out of the clan. You start out looking for a place to settle, sleeping underneath the starlit sky until you find the right place. Eventually, you make that place into your home. Ages pass and you and your clan establish relations with other people. You might need their help as you are never certain of what the future holds. Generations pass and natural calamities could end up uprooting your lives. But life goes on, someway, somehow.

Maybe that’s what is so interesting about this title. It’s like the Sims without the weirdness that is… the Sims.

    Intruder in Antiquonia

    Release Date: July 8, 2022
Genre: Strategy, Adventure, Puzzle, Point and Click
    Platform: PC

Point and click games seem to be making quite a comeback and Intruder in Antiquonia is leading the charge for many others that’ll be coming out later in the coming months. This title first caught our attention earlier this year when the demo was first released. (Let’s just say that after playing the demo, we felt the need to know more about Sarah and the mysteries behind the town that doesn’t like the Internet all that much.)

Apart from that, we’re looking forward to more puzzles and are excited to see the changes made to the game since the demo’s release.

    Azure Striker Gunvolt 3

    Release Date: July 28, 2022
    Genre: Platformer, Shooter, Fighting
    Platform: Nintendo Switch

It’s been nearly 6 years since we last had an Azure Striker Gunvolt game. But then again, Gunovlt Chronicles – Luminous Avenger iX 2 just released earlier this year and that may have played a part in the game’s current release. Regardless, the third mainline game looks to have more action and fast-paced combat than ever before. And with the ability to switch between two different characters is sure to make things interesting. If you’re looking for a modern-day Megaman X title, then you might give Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 a look. (It’s gonna be hectic though.)

    Loopmancer

    Release Date: July 13, 2022
    Genre: Action Roguelike
    Platform: PC

As noted in our preview, Loopmancer is a roguelite side scroller action game with pretty interesting mechanics. Set in a cyberpunk city, players take control of Xiang Zixu as he finds a way to break from his apparent death loop. You’ll need to rely on his mastery of martial arts and firearms to solve the case and break the cycle.

Like all rougelites, you fight, die, and come back to life to once fight enemies but in this case, not all iterations are not going to follow the same loop as enemies change positions, requiring different tactics per run.

    MADiSON

    Release Date: July 8, 2022
    Genre: Horror, Survival Horror
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC

MADiSON is best described as a psychological thriller where you are tasked to bridge our world and the world after finishing a ritual that your character has taken part in many years ago. To do this, you’ll need to use your camera and “see” to the other side, solve some very eerie-looking puzzles, and do whatever it takes to not suffer a horrific fate.

    Live A Live

    Release Date: July 22, 2022
    Genre: Turn-based RPG
    Platform: Nintendo Switch

Some of you may be surprised to know that Live A Live isn’t a new game. It is actually a remake of the 1994 game that first came out for the Super Famicon. It had yet to receive an official Western release… until now. The game is receiving a graphical overhaul in line with something like Octopath Traveler.

Live A Live is a collection of short stories set in different eras and told from the perspective of 8 different protagonists. Each “section” of the story carries different sets of rules unique to that character and their place in time. For those looking for a game with the classic 16-bit aesthetic, you may want to give this game a look.

Top July Game Releases 2022 - Powerwash Simulator

    Powerwash Simulator

    Release Date: July 14, 2022
    Genre: Simulation, Casual
Platform: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

After a very successful Early Access run, Powerwash Simulator is set to be fully released this July. The chill, and oddly comforting cleaning simulator has come a long way since it first entered Early Access – gaining more gear, scenarios, and even a 6-player co-op option for those massive projects. But even then, you are able to do these jobs yourself, solo, but be prepared to lose many hours as your digital OCD kicks in and you aren’t satisfied until 100% of the location is squeaky clean.

    Bear and Breakfast

    Release Date: July 28, 2022
    Genre: Simulation, RPG, Casual
    Platform: Nintendo Switch, PC

Bear and breakfast is a management simulation game where players take control of a bear running a “bed and breakfast” for human guests. Essentially, you are the manager, designer, handyman, and at times… the chef. And honestly, that idea is so out there that it’s bound to click with many players. Besides, the cute art style has also made this game a highly anticipated game among Indie game enthusiasts. Other than that, look forward to stumbling across the occasional mystery or two as you look to expand your cozy business.

    F1 2022

    Release Date: July 01, 2022
    Genre: Racing, Simulation
Platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC

Just like how last year’s F1 2021 changed how the series would move forward in terms of career and story, F1 2022 is set to change how the series will go forward in terms of visuals and audio. This year’s offering is going to change every vehicle model and how the cars are generally handled. The game is also going to get adaptive AI and VR support for PC. These are plenty of changes considering this is a yearly release title. All we’re hoping now is if they made any improvements to the story mode. Otherwise, it’s looking like another solid year for F1 racing fans.

    Stray

    Release Date: July 19, 2022
    Genre: Platform, Adventure, Simulation
    Platform: PS4, PS5, PC

Stray is a very curious game. Never mind the fact that you play a cat and the game is set in a post-human cyberpunk world inhabited by robots. That’s already eye-catching enough… until you find out that the developers worked very closely with real-life cats in order to get the “cat” part right. Their great efforts are… admirable.

Look, many of us have waited years for this gorgeous game and really want to explore the world from a cat’s perspective. Well, now they have the chance to do so.

(Personally, I wanna know what happened to the humans.. but that’s just me.)

    Digimon Survive

    Release Date: July 29, 2022
Genre: Adventure, Tactical RPG, Survival, Visual novel
Platform: PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC

Digimon Survive is an adventure visual novel that tells the story of a group of kids who mysteriously get transported to another world to take part in a ritual and one of them gets chosen to be sacrificed to a beast god. The children aren’t completely helpless though as, through the help of their newly befriended Digimon companions, somehow make it back home to their world.

The gameplay is split between turn-based tactical grid battles and visual novel choice-based segments where the player’s choices eventually determine their Digi-companion’s evolutionary path.

    Xenoblade Chronicles 3

    Release Date: July 29, 2022
    Genre: Action RPG, Fighting, Adventure
    Platform: Nintendo Switch

At long last, the final chapter of the trilogy is nearly here. it’s going to be a bittersweet ending for many players who have played both 1 and 2 and gotten to know the characters from both universes. The trilogy is sure to end on a high note as you are able able to have a large party of characters traveling with you for that final hurrah!

(Why did this turn out to be Mass Effect: Citadel? Who knows!)

Bottom line, Xenoblade Chronicles is epic series, and you don’t wanna miss this one. And hey, there’s still the expansion pass to look forward to and all’s been said and done.
