There will be two different editions of Sonic Origins available at launch: the standard edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition, and although Sega’s convoluted chart has been criticized online, you’ll find that there are a variety of bonuses to be found in each of the two editions.
In recent years, fans have been demanding that certain classic games be reissued in their entirety. While this is a long overdue request, some of the differences between the standard and deluxe editions have left some fans perplexed. As Such, here’s a rundown of the Bonuses included in each edition, including more details as they become available.
Sonic Origins Standard Edition
Price – Standard Edition
- PlayStation – $39.99
- Xbox – $39.99
- Nintendo Switch – $39.99
- Steam – $39.99
- Epic Games Store – $39.99
The pre-order bonus that comes with Sonic Origins Standard Edition includes:
- Main Game
- 100 Bonus Coins
- Mirror Mode (Unlockable In-Game)
- Letterbox Background
All in all, you’ll be able to play the main game, along with the new mirror mode and letterbox background, allowing you to fine-tune your gameplay experience. As a starting point, this version of Sonic is more than adequate for most gamers.
Sonic Origins Digital Deluxe Edition
Price – Digital Deluxe Edition
- PlayStation – $44.99
- Xbox – $44.99
- Nintendo Switch – $44.99
- Steam – $44.99
- Epic Games Store – $44.99
You’ll get the pre-order bonus along with some nice extras when you purchase Sonic Origins Deluxe Edition, which are as follows:
- Main Game
- 100 Bonus Coins
- Mirror Mode (Unlockable In-Game)
- Hard Missions
- Letterbox Background
- Character Animation In The Main Menu
- Camera Controls Over The Main Menu Islands
- Character Animations During Music Islands
- Additional Music Tracks from MegaDrive/Genesis Titles
Pre-ordering the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition grants you full access to all of the game’s content that we know about. A fee for things like character animations is weird, yet some players may not care about such kinds of features.
Sonic Origins Additional Pre-Order Bonus
Pre-Ordering either Standard Edition of Digital Deluxe Edition will grant you the Standard Dash Pack featuring 100 Bonus Coins (In-game Currency), Mirror Mode (Unlockable In-Game), and a themed Letterbox Background to customize your playthrough.
Is Sonic Origins Digital Deluxe Edition Worth It?
Short answer is, No, the Deluxe Edition is not worth the extra money. Additional costs for menu animations that will die down in moments aren’t worth it. Sonic Spinball may give you a few additional Museum Mode tunes, but it’s not worth having.
Digital Deluxe Editions are only worth it if there are more hard missions in them, and it may be worthwhile purchasing if they are separate entities that are not included in the game’s main version. Consider this same advice of someone who has a lot of experience playing Sonic.
