In V Rising fishing can be more than just a fun and relaxing activity for the undead. Vampires do share some hobbies with mortal human beings, like murder, eating each other, and apparently fishing. We’re more alike with the creatures of darkness than you think. In our V Rising Fishing guide we’ll teach you how to channel your inner vampire fisherman.
How to Fish in V Rising?
Here are the steps to fish in V Rising:
- Defeat Rufus the Foreman
- Create a Crafting Bench
- Craft a Fishing Pole
- Find a Fishing Spot
Fishing can be a rewarding experience and there are several Fishing Spots located across the map in V Rising. There are some prerequisite requirements first before you can get started on your undead fishing trip.
Defeat Rufus the Foreman
You have to defeat Rufus the Foreman as he gives you the recipe for creating the Fishing Pole. You can find Rufus the Foreman in the Bandit Logging Camp within Farebane Woods. Our All V Blood Boss Locations in V Rising will cover how to defeat him.
Rufus the Foreman is only Level 20, but you should prepare first. Your rewards from defeating him are the ability to create a Woodworking Bench which includes recipes for the Fishing Pole, Hunter’s Crossbow, Painting Frame, and Sculpted Wood.
Create a Crafting Bench
You can create a Crafting Bench after finishing the tutorial. By this point in the game, you should already have one in your Castle. If not, then you should set it up.
Craft a Fishing Pole
You can now craft a Fishing Pole. Go to your Crafting Bench and you should see the necessary materials to make one. You’re going to need these materials:
- Copper Ingots x4
- Coarse Threads x4
- Planks x8
Copper Ingots can be found in the Farebane Woods. Look for Copper Deposits/Nodes and attack them to gain Copper Ingots. Note that you can only get Copper Ingots if you’re attacking deposits past Gear Level 10. Read our How to Increase Gear Score Fast in V Rising guide if you want to shoot up your Gear Level quickly.
Coarse Threads can be found in Bandit Camps. To know which Bandit Camp has a Coarse Thread, open your map and hover over the Bandit Camps you’ve discovered. They will show as “important loot.” Go to that Bandit Camp, raid them, and open their chests. You should get Coarse Threads no problem.
Planks are a resource that require the Sawmill. Follow the main story quests until you’ve unlocked the ability to make a Sawmill in your castle. After you’ve setup your Sawmill, you can create Planks to use for your Fishing Pole.
Once you have all the materials, go to the Crafting Bench and create a Fishing Pole.
Find a Fishing Spot
Now that we have our Fishing Pole we can finally go fish. Unlike other games, you simply cannot fish anywhere just because there is water. In V Rising fishing requires you to find certain spots.
You can only fish in waters with rising bubbles in them. Once you’ve found a fishing spot, hover your mouse over to where the bubbles are and right click to cast your Fishing Rod.
How to Catch Fish in V Rising
You have to hover your mouse over to where the bubbles are in the fishing spot and right click. This will cast the Fishing Pole to that area. Wait for the spot you’ve cast your pole to until it starts glowing and then left click to reel your fish in.
That’s how you catch fish! There isn’t really much use to fishing unless you’re making fish oil or scales, but there are special fish out there that give long term benefits. Read our V Rising Twilight Snapper: How to get and Where to find as this fish is necessary for acquiring your Rat Form. Read our V Rising Vampire Powers guide for a list of all the Vampire Powers, including Rat Form, you can get in the game and how to get them.
V Rising Fishing: All Fishing Spots
Here are the best fishing spots in V Rising:
- Dunley Farmlands – 2 fishing spots
- Farebane Woods – 6 fishing spots
- Hallowed Mountain – 2 fishing spots
- Silverlight Hills – 5 fishing spots
There aren’t any differences for each Fishing Spot. They all give you the same fish regardless. You’re better off looking for fishing spots in Farebane Woods as it’s the location with the most fishing spots in the game. In V Rising fishing leaves you a bit open, so watch your back for enemy players.
