Top 12 December Game Releases 2022 - The Callisto Protocol, Marvel's Midnight Suns, and More

Hello there. Next month is the Holiday Season and we’ll be listing our list of Top 12 December Game Releases 2022. In this list, we’ll talk about the games that have caught our attention and are the ones we are closely looking into as their release date closes in. Unfortunately, there aren’t Festive-themed ones to our knowledge that are releasing next month. But we’ll still share Holiday cheer with our one hobby that stays active all year round.

Oddly enough, we have some late Halloween stuff as three of our entries clearly fit in the horror genre. Are we bound for a ‘Nightmare before Christmas’?

Dwarf Fortress Steam Edition

Dwarf Fortress has come a long way from where it started all these years ago. So imagine our surprise when the Steam version was announced not too long ago. Now we no longer have to look at cryptic symbols that are supposed to represent dwarves. We will be looking at jpegs of dwarves doing dwarf things. Not the biggest of deals but the game has a history so it deserves a mention on our list of December game releases 2022.

Samurai Maiden

Samurai Maiden is your typical Mosou game with vibrant visuals and above-average action set pieces. It looks like it’s mostly about a teen going back in time and

Blacktail – A Witch’s Fate

Genre: Narrative, Action-Adventure
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

We have been keeping track of Blacktail’s development for a long while now. Though it is presented as an FPS game, its main focus lies in the folktales that inspired it. The kind of stories that keep children in line and ward the curious from wandering around the woods at night. It is a refreshing change of pace from all the high-intensity shooters that have been coming out lately.

Witch on the Holy Night

Genre: Visual Novel, Adventure

The original Witch on the Holy Night came out nearly 25 years ago. It is widely considered the starting point for what fans would eventually call the Narsuverse. This updated version of the classic visual novel will have enriched visuals and sounds. On top of that, it will be fully voiced and given the full HD remaster treatment on consoles. A number of us are fans of the fate and Tsukihime series, so we’ll definitely be checking this out when it releases.

Choo-Choo Charles

Release Date: December 09, 2022

We don’t how or why this game exists but we love the idea of this as much as we hate it. Choo-Choo Charles is a survival first-person game where your character attempts to outrun and eventually the titular main antagonist. You’re going to have to rely on the locals, chunks of scrap laying around, and no small amount of luck to take down this creepy crawly choo-choo.

High on Life

High on Life could have been your typical stereotypical outer space adventure with a hint of moral quandary. But when you have a gun that is constantly guilt-tripping you from doing anything… Now you have an excuse to channel your inner Rick Sanchez out of spite. And once you go full Rick Sanchez, there’s no turning back. (Sorry, alien kids. Blame space pistol Morty.)

Chained Echoes

Chained Echoes is our dark horse favorite in this December games 2022 list. The game has the look and feel of a classic pixel art JRPG and has freaking mechas front and center of the action. We’ve been patiently waiting for this game’s release ever since it was announced. We have a feeling that this is going to scratch that retro-feeling itch. Plus, it’s the holiday season soon after release. There’s no better time for us to fully commit to the hours of grinding that we’ll need to become over-leveled, real fast.

Hello Neighbor 2

We’re now coming up to our top 5 games for December games 2022. And starting up with the game that spawned a community of lore hunters and theory crafters. Hello Neighbor 2 is a direct sequel to the original game. Though It may or may not be connected to the asymmetric multiplayer game. All we know is that we play as a journalist looking into the mysterious neighbor and other Persons of Interest. The morbidly curious protagonist from the first game was onto something. Something big.

Need For Speed Unbound

A little more than a month ago, we’ve been speculating on what the next Need for Speed game is going to be. To our surprise, the series has decided to fully embrace the reboot it had a couple of games ago, and now Need for Speed Unbound looks to have that familiar arcadey feel with a new visual style. We’ve no doubt that this game will do alright. It’s only been a couple of years of wait since NFS Heat and we had no idea we wanted more NFS like never before.

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion, on the other hand, was a game FFVII fans knew was going to happen eventually. We just didn’t know if it’ll release before or after the completion of FFVII Remake. The same goes for Advent Children, actually. But now that we know that FFVII Remake is a trilogy, Advent Children doesn’t seem so unlikely anymore. I wonder if we’ll see more than just a couple of seconds of Zack and Aerith.

Anyway, we look forward to going back through memory lane with some of the best the PSP had to offer. As for December game releases 2022 go, this is more than a simple remaster. We’ll see.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a game that we initially thought was going to be a disaster. There are some games that make card-based combat look like the best damn thing ever and there are though that just make boring games seem really bad.

The jury’s still out on this one. But we do admit that this is a very cool idea. All that’s left to determine is whether or not it stays fun all the way to the end.

The Callisto Protocol

Here we are, the top game we are looking forward to in our December Games 2022 list. And that is none other than The Callisto Protocol. This is especially good for us considering that this game was created by the minds that gave us the Original Dead Space. From the trailers, we can already see the huge difference in quality as the tech evolved, learns scarred from that horrible excuse of a horror game Dead Space 3, and things the team has picked up on over the years. Like how to rip and tear a human apart in all sorts of gruesome ways.

Yup. That’s our most anticipated game for next month. Have a great rest of the year, folks.
