The Dark Type is one of the eighteen Pokémon types and is mostly known for follow up attacks and being resistant to controlling moves. One notable trainer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet who specializes in Dark types is Giacomo of Team Star’s Segin Squad.

Dark Type Weaknesses

Dark types are weak against:

  • Fighting
  • Bug
  • Fairy

Look out for these Pokémon who can deal super effective attacks:

  • Farigiraf (Normal/Psychic)
  • Veluza (Water/Psychic)

  • Scream Tail (Fairy/Psychic) *Fairy moves are super effective
  • Armarouge (Fire/Psychic)

On the other hand, Dark types are slightly resistant to these types:

  • Ghost
  • Dark

Look out for these Pokémon who Dark types can be relatively safe fighting against:

Keep in mind that Pokémon types are just rough guides with regards to weaknesses and resistances and that these Pokémon can still learn moves that are outside their type.
