What is Tatsugiri in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Tatsugiri is a dual-type Dragon/ Water Pokémon that resembles sushi. It doesn’t have any evolved forms but has different forms that have different descriptions about it.
The forms known in Scarlet and Violet for Tatsugiri are the following:
Tatsugiri Curly Form
It is a small dragon Pokémon that lives inside the mouth of Dondozo to protect itself from enemies on the outside. It is also extremely cunning and feigns weakness to lure in prey.
Tatsugiri Droopy Form
This form of Tatsugiri has a different color and patterns that trick its opponent into thinking it’s dead and uses its smarts to survive.
Tatsugiri Stretchy Form
Using its throat sac, it inflates itself to hide and hunts down bird-type Pokémon as its main prey.
Though all the forms of Tatsugiri look different, they all share the same strengths and weaknesses in the game. As a Dragon/ Water-type Pokémon, it is resistant to Steel, Fire, and Water-type attacks, but can take significant damage from Dragon and fairy Type Attacks.
Where to Find Tatsugiri in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Tatsugiri can be found in the northwestern corner of the Paldea map at Casseroya Lake. Be wary of high-level wild Pokémon especially with Tatsugiri as it is a formidable Dragon-Type Pokémon and most of the time, its level is 52. Stock up a ton of Quick Balls and Net Balls to be sure to catch this sushi.
How to Get Shiny Tatsugiri in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
To get the Shiny Form of Tatsugiri, players must first use these 3 methods that will prove to be useful for not only getting the shiny form of Tatsugiri but also other Shiny Paldean Pokémon in the game:
- The 1st method will be during Mass outbreaks. These outbreaks occur around the Paldea map and if players manage to beat at least 30 of that species, there is a small percent chance of its shiny form coming out.
- The 2nd method is by using the item known as the Shiny Charm. This item can be used to increase the chances of getting shiny from 1 in 1365 to 1 in 512. To unlock this item, complete the Pokédex and return it to Professor Jaxq in the Academy as he will reward trainers with the charm.
- The last method is by unlocking the Sparkling Power Shiny Sandwich Recipe. This recipe can be unlocked by completing the whole main story quest and will need to collect Herba Mystica through 5-star raids. Complete making this recipe and your chances of getting the Shiny Pokémon will be higher.
How to Catch Shiny Tatsugiri in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Upon confronting Shiny Tatsugiri, players must remember that this Pokémon’s catch rate is at 21.7% making it a challenge to capture. Use moves like False Swipe, Hypnosis, Sleep Powder, and Disable to increase the catch rate. Not only that, trainers must stock up on the following Poké-balls so that they have a better chance of getting Tatsugiri:
- Quick Ball
- Ultra Ball
- Timer Ball
- Net Ball
