Hydreigon and Dragapult Tera Raid Event Guide Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Tera Raid Event Hydreigon Dragapult cover

Hydreigon and Dragapult will be the next pseudo legendaries to be featured in the upcoming Tera Raid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Like the previous Tera Raid event with Tyranitar and Salamence, these two Pokémon will appear more frequently in raids starting from Friday, January 6, 2023 to Sunday, January 8, 2023.

For this Tera Raid event, players will be able to find more Hydreigon (Scarlet) and Dragapult (Violet) in Tera caves at difficulty levels 4-Star (Lv. 45) and 5-Star (Lv.75). They will also appear with different Tera types, but they will retain the same move sets regardless of their Tera type. The encountered Pokémon also have a chance to appear as shiny, too.

Despite being exclusive to their respective versions, Hydreigon and Dragapult can still be obtained by Violet and Scarlet users by joining online Tera raids, so this is a good opportunity for players who have yet to capture the Pokémon that they need.

Since both Pokémon will have varying Tera types, it’s best to work on a build that is based on their move sets depending on their level.

Hydreigon Tera Raid Guide

Hydreigon will have Levitate as its only ability, so it’s best to avoid using Ground-type moves and moves that affect the terrain.

Here are its move sets for both difficulties:

  • 4-Star Hydreigon
    • Dark Pulse (Dark)
    • Dragon Pulse (Dragon)
    • Work Up (Normal)
    • Slam (Normal)
  • 5-Star Hydreigon
    • Draco Meteor (Dragon)
    • Dark Pulse (Dark)
    • Nasty Plot (Dark)
    • Slam (Normal)

Because of Hydreigon’s Dark/Dragon type, it’s not recommended to use Psychic, Ghost, and Dragon types, especially if it also has a matching Tera type. Fairy types will be relatively safe to use, unless it has Flash Cannon as one of its moves.

Dragapult Tera Raid Guide

Dragapult will have Clear Body, Infiltrator, or Cursed Body as one of its abilities, with Cursed Body being the most dangerous one as it has a chance of disabling a damaging move that connects for several turns.

Here are its move sets for both difficulties:

  • 4-Star Dragapult
    • Dragon Darts (Dragon)
    • Dragon Dance (Dragon)
    • Hex (Ghost)
    • Will-O-Wisp (Fire)
  • 5-Star Dragapult
    • Dragon Darts (Dragon)
    • Draco Meteor (Dragon)
    • Hex (Ghost)
    • Flamethrower (Fire)

Because of Dragapult’s Dragon/Ghost type, it’s not recommended to go for Psychic, Dragon, or Ghost types if it has a matching Tera type. Normal, Fairy, Dark, and Steel types are good counters for these Tera types.
