Defense is the best offense. This saying is actually true especially in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as there are mostly moves that help players increase the defensive stats of the Pokémon they use and among the moves known for their boosting ability is the Iron Defense. This move is highly used by competitive players and this guide will teach players how to get this and what Pokémon should learn this, so read on.
What is Iron Defense in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
TM 104 Iron Defense is a non-damaging Steel-Type move that will increase a Pokémon’s defense. It raises the user’s Defense by two stages and the stats can be raised to a maximum of +6 stages each. It is a very common Steel-Type move as Pokémon such as Squirtle, Cloyster, Scizor, Mawile, and even Falinks can learn it through leveling up.
Where to Get Iron Defense TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can easily get this TM or Technical Move in multiple ways. The easiest method is by defeating the Fire Crew Base leader, Mela in the Starfall Street Storyline. Players will be rewarded the TM move from defeating her but also the recipe for crafting the TM in the Pokémon Center. To craft this TM, players will need the following materials:
- 1500 League Points x3
- Pineco Husk x3

Another method by finding the TM in different parts of the Paldean region. The Iron Defense can be found in these locations:
- South Province (Area Three) – On top of a small mountain
- East Province (Area Three) – Next to a Pokemon Center within a Fenced Digging site
- East Province (Area One) – Outside the Great Crater of Paldea
- North Province (Area One) – On the corner area of the map
