Tilapia in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fish ingredient that’s required to make a certain dish that’ll help you complete quests, increase friendship levels, and earn some star coins during your playthrough.

The game’s fishing mechanics are straightforward, but it may take some time to haul in every fish (especially this one). So, if you’re interested in learning how to catch a Tilapia, here’s what you need to do.

Where to Find Tilapia in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Players can get or catch a Tilapia once they’ve unlocked the pathway through Sunlit Plateau or Frosted Heights.

Unlocking Frosted Heights will cost you 10,000 Dreamlights, while Sunlit Plateau costs 7,000. However, you won’t be able to access the Frosted Heights until you’ve unlocked the Forest of Valor, which costs 3,000 Dreamlights.

Obtaining Dreamlights is challenging to collect early on, but you should be able to earn this much by completing milestones and Dreamlight Duties, just take it slow and enjoy the game, no need to rush.

Once you’ve entered the Frosted Heights or Sunlit Plateau, you can then start looking for Blue Fishing Nodes (bubbling circles) in the waterways. Even though they only appear randomly, these blue nodes are the most rewarding and are the only ones that can reward you Tilapia.

If you’re having trouble locating blue circles, you may always fish the standard white or orange nodes while you wait for new spawn locations to open up. Be sure to bring along a friend as well who can fill the fishing role. While they won’t improve your odds of getting lobster, they might throw in an extra grab if you catch one.

Additionally, you might have a chance to obtain Tilapia using Moana’s Boat. Helping her fix the fishing boat will grant you access on collecting fishes on different biomes for free.

There’s only 1 Recipe you can unlock that requires Tilapia, which is:

  • Pan-Seared Tilapia & Vegetables – Tilapia, Any Vegetable (x2)

You can sell Tilapia for 600 star coins or even consume it raw for 1,150 energy. However, it’s best to use this to make a dish considering the amount of star coins it gives. Pan-Seared Tilapia & Vegetables specifically, gives you 2,194 energy and sells for 862 star coins even though it’s just a 3-star meal.
