The Hateful in God of War Ragnarok is an undead Draugr boss that you encounter multiple times in the game. The first time you’ll fight The Hateful is in the Applecore mines where you learn that this particular boss can summon minions to aid them in battle. The Hateful can be a particularly tough boss as you race to find Tyr due to how persistent they can be as opponents.
This guide will teach you how to beat the Hateful in God of War Ragnarok. Despite the many times you face this particular enemy in the game, the strategy to defeating them always remains the same.
How to Defeat The Hateful in God of War Ragnarok?
The Hateful is fought multiple times throughout your mission to find Tyr but never really changes its strategy. However it’s difficult to fight this undead foe thanks to its many attacks that can set Kratos on fire. Time to give the Draugr a taste of its own medicine by chipping away what it can do one step at a time.
Focus On The Minions First
When fighting The Hateful in God of War Ragnarok, you should first focus on its minions. It will summon its fellow undead to aid it in battle which can become annoying the longer they’re there. Take care of them first before engaging with the main boss.
The minions of The Hateful are basically just non super powered version of the boss you’re dealing with. They can be easily dispatched. However the challenge is ensuring that The Hateful doesn’t get a hit in if you’re focused into tunnel vision when fighting its undead underlings.
You may not win any father of the year awards, but using Atreus as bait will serve you well here. Use your son’s arrows to drive away the attention from The Hateful while you dispatch its minions.
Deflect Flame Projectiles
During the fight with The Hateful in God of War Ragnarok, it will throw multiple flame projectiles at you which can be deflected to turn back damage at them. These projectiles will also stun The Hateful leaving them open to attacks and deal some decent damage.
You should watch out because The Hateful seems to love spamming unblocking attacks often. Watch out for the red indicator marks for special attacks that you’ll be unable to parry and dodge those. For everything else, parrying and blocking would be very useful.
