Lost Ark Lava Chromanium Guardian Raid Guide

Lava Chromanium is one of the Lost Ark bosses that players can challenge in the Guardian Raids. It is a variant of Chromanium that has a stronger affinity towards the fire element. Unlike its variant, it can summon small vents that can shoot out fiery projectiles towards players.

In this guide, we will look into Lava Chromanium’s attack patterns and share some tips and strategies that will help clear this raid.

How to Unlock Lava Chromanium Raid - Lost Ark

How to Unlock Lava Chromanium Raid in Lost Ark

To Unlock Lava Chromanium Raid you will first have to unlock the Guardian Raids by just progressing through the main story. Then, you will have to defeat all of the level 1, level 2, and level 3 raid bosses. Finally, reach iLvl 1000 to be able to enter the Lava Chromanium raid.

How to beat Lava Chromanium in Lost Ark?

Most of Lava Chromanium’s attacks are similar to its regular counterpart, except for a few changes on some attacks.

    Lava Chromanium Weaknesses

    • Lava Chromanium is weak against water damage
    • Skills with Weak Point or Destruction Bombs
      • Switch out your skills with tripods that provide a Weak Point buff. You should focus on dishing out all your Weak Point skills and throw all your Destruction Bombs at the first part of the phase to get rid of the falling rocks attack.
    • Counter Skills
      • Lava Chromanium has a body slam attack that has a slow wind up animation that he uses a lot of times during the fight. He can glow blue during this attack, so hit him with a Counter skill cancel the attack and create an opening.

    Lava Chromanium Lava Vents Mechanic

Lava Chromanium’s main mechanic is he spawns lava vents or tiny volcanoes around it that shoot out lava balls the leave fire pools on the floor. These vents can be destroyed to prevent the projectiles from spawning. This mechanic is a simple one to deal with, but it has to be taken care of right away, nevertheless.

Lava Chromanium Shell Mechanic - Lost Ark

    Lava Chromanium Shell Mechanic

Lava Chromanium’s shell provides him with a defense buff that cuts most players’ attacks in half, similar to its regular variant. This shell should be broken as soon as possible to remove the buff so that your attack damage won’t be reduced. This can be done by using attacks that have the Weak Point attribute or by using Destruction Bombs at him.

While his shell is still intact, Lava Chromanium can make small rocks fall around him. This attack is telegraphed by the markers that appear on the ground, however they blend well with the floor and can be hard to spot.

If he moves to another location after his shell has been broken, he will emerge with a new shell that should be destroyed once more. This also re-enables him to use his rockfall attack.

Lava Chromanium Phases, Attacks, and Tactics - Lost Ark

Lava Chromanium Phases, Attacks, and Tactics

    Phase 1 Attacks

Phase 1 is when Lava Chromanium’s shell is still intact.

    • Fire Breath – Lava Chromanium will shoot out a cone of flames from his mouth. Stay clear of his head to avoid getting hit.
    • Body Slam – Lava Chromanium raises both of his front legs up high and slamming the ground with great force. Stay away from his front side or move towards his tail to avoid getting hit. This attack can be countered once he glows blue.
    • Side Body Slam – He will raise both his left or right legs and slam them to the ground. Move to the other side of the body to be safe.
    • Mortar – He will move his front legs closer to his hind legs to raise his angle. He will then shoot out a large orb at a player’s location. There will be a marker that will appear on the ground where the orb will hit.
    • Cannon Barrage – He will do the same movement as if shooting a mortar, but he will instead shoot out multiple projectiles in waves that will fall on random spots on the ground. Stop attacking and focus on avoiding these projectiles until your find a clear spot near the end of the attack.
    • Buried Cannon Barrage – Similar to the Cannon Barrage, but he will bury into the ground first, then half of his body will pop up from the ground as it shoots projectiles in the air. Focus on avoiding the projectiles.
    • Rockfall – Rocks will fall around him while his shell is intact. Try to avoid being behind him relative to where your camera is at to be able to see the markers where the rocks will wall as they are faint and can be easily missed. Once his shell is broken, he will no longer do this attack.
    • Lava Vents – He will spawn lava vents or tiny volcanoes around him that shoot out lava balls that leave fire pools on the floor. Stepping on these flame pools will inflict a Burn debuff that can stack and deal tick damage. Try to destroy these vents as soon as they spawn to prevent it from limiting your fighting space with its flame pools.
Lava Chromanium Phase 2 Attacks, and Tactics - Lost Ark

    Phase 2 Attacks

Phase 2 includes all of his previous attacks minus the Rockfall.

    • Leap Attack – Lava Chromanium leap towards a player’s location. Unlike with his regular counterpart, he can now change direction per leap. He can also do a 180-degree turn while leaping, which usually happens when he is cornered or adjacent to a map boundary. There’s little to no tell with this attack, so best be careful about staying close to him at all times.
    • Double Body Slam – He will reposition his front legs closer to his body and do a body slam that releases lava from the ground around him. He will immediately follow it up with another body slam that will release geysers of lava from the ground from a farther radius around him. Pay close attention to his legs. As soon as you see him tuck them closer, run away from him. Both shockwave blasts can juggle you in the air if you get hit by the first one. This is considered as Lava Chromanium’s wipe mechanic as it can instantly kill anyone with how hard it hits.

    Lava Chromanium Guardian Raid Tips

    • Bring the essential battle items such as HP potions, Destruction Bombs, Frost Grenades and Flares.
    • Since he regenerates his shell while moving to a new location, take the time to pass by your camp to refill your battle items, especially your Destruction Bombs.
    • Switch up your skills to include ones that have Weak Point levels so that you can destroy its shell easily.
    • Lava Chromanium is weak to the Water Element, so try to use skills that have that element.
    • Use Flares to track him down at the start of the raid and when he flees to another area.
    • In order to combat the Lava Chromanium’s heavy armor, we recommend including a Gunslinger or an Artillerist on your party who want to specialize in armor reduction debuffs in order to make the fight more manageable.
