Helgaia is one of the Lost Ark bosses that players can challenge in the Guardian Raids. It resembles a huge fiery bird that is capable of spitting out fireballs and summoning meteors from the sky. During the fight, it can evolve twice to achieve its ultimate form in which it can deal fatal damage with its flame attacks.
In this guide, we will look into Helgaia’s attack patterns and share tips and strategies on how to avoid, survive, and clear this raid.

How to beat Helgaia in Lost Ark?
Helgaia Weaknesses
- Helgaia is weak against water damage
- Stagger Skills and Whirlwind Grenade
- During evolution, everyone in the party should dish out all their stagger skills or Whirlwind Grenades to cancel the evolution.
- Counter Skills
- Helgaia can glow blue during a charge or a fly-by attack, during which she can be hit by a counter skill to cancel the attack and create an opening.
Helgaia Mechanic and Phases
Helgaia’s mechanic is she can charge up energy to evolve into a stronger form. This mechanic is tied to her phases; Helgaia can evolve twice, making the entire fight split into three phases.
While Helgaia is charging, players should concentrate on dishing out staggering skills or using Whirlwind Grenades to try and stagger it. Successfully staggering it will delay its evolution to its next charging attempt. Helgaia’s stagger meter gets higher in every evolution attempt, so it will eventually succeed in reaching its next stage.
Phase 1 Attacks and Patterns – Helgaia
- Peck – Helgaia will lower its head, whips her upward, then slams her beak towards the ground twice. Unless you want to stagger her, keep away from being directly in front of her head. Sidestep to avoid getting hit.
- Charge – She will raise her wings and charge straight towards the direction she’s facing. Sidestep away from the path of the charge as soon as you see the wings go up or if Helgaia flies. She can glow blue during this attack, so prepare your counter skills to stop her from charging.
- Fling – She will rapidly flap her wings, lower her head, and then flings it upward. If a player is caught by this attack, they will be flung up and above towards Helgaia’s tail. Same as with the peck, avoid being in front of its face to avoid getting flung.
- Wing Attack – She will turn her head to the side and quickly swings her wing on that side to hit anyone near her. Once you see her head turn, dodge towards her tail to avoid getting hit.
- Tail Whip – Helgaia will whip her tail at an arc to hit anyone near her. Dodge towards the front of its body, or stay underneath her body to avoid getting hit. You can continue dealing damage to her as long as you stay close to her legs and far from her tail.
- Leap Attack – She will leap high towards a player and leave an impact crater where she lands, causing a shockwave AoE. It can be hard to time, but pay attention to her leap. Once she reaches the peak of her leap, dodge sideways from the point of impact.
- Fireball – She will move her head backwards and her wings forward, then she will spit out a fireball straight towards a targeted player. She can do this attack twice. Helgaia can pivot on her spot while spitting fireballs so make sure to run around her if you’re the one being targeted.
Phase 2 Attacks and Patterns – Helgaia
Phase 2 includes all of the attacks from phase 1, but they deal more damage than before.
- Fly-by – An upgraded Charge. Helgaia will fly on a straight line towards the direction that she’s facing, leaving pools of flame on her path. She can also glow blue during this attack, so prepare your counter skills.
- Triple Fireball – An upgraded Fireball. Helgaia can now spit three fireballs simultaneously. Dodge around her until she shoots out her second set of fireballs.
Phase 3 Attacks and Patterns – Helgaia
Phase 3 includes all of the attacks from phase 1 and 2, but they deal more damage than before.
- Meteor Rain – Helgaia will fly up very high and summon meteors to land on random spots on the map. The ground where the meteors will hit will glow yellow. Try to avoid and weave your way away from these spots as much as possible. Getting his by a meteor deals significant damage, plus it will knock you up. It is possible to get juggled by multiple meteors.

Helgaia Raid Tips
- Bring the essentials like HP potions, Panacea, Whirlwind Grenades, and Flares.

- You can also switch to skills that have a water element to deal bonus damage against Helgaia, as well as throwing some Frost Grenades at her.
- Helgaia’s charging animation during evolution is quite long which is a great opening to use your long casting skills or long chain combo skills. Make sure to aim for the head to maximize the staggering damage.
- Party up with friends or guildmates to clear the raid quicker.
- Avoid standing in the flame pools and make sure to use a Panacea in case you get high stacks of Burn.
